HOTEL ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF ENGINEERING | Crescent Hotels & Resorts
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Crescent Hotels & Resorts, located in New York City, NY. The Assistant Director of Engineering plays a key part in the hotel’s operational success and protecting its investments.
The TL;DR

• Location: In-person, New York, NY
• Pay: $90000–$100000 yearly
• Team: Reports directly to the Director of Engineering, Chief Engineer, and/or General Manager
• Mission: Supervise the implementation of all property and equipment preventive maintenance and repairs, monitor life safety systems and utilities, and assist in departmental administration to protect assets, guests, and employees.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Team Leadership: Interview, hire, train, complete performance evaluations, resolve problems, and recommend discipline or termination for engineering team employees.
• Maintenance Program Management: Implement and schedule property and equipment preventive maintenance programs in compliance with corporate/franchise standards and codes.
• Service Request Prioritization: Prioritize service requests, schedule, and monitor service performance to ensure customer satisfaction, safety, and convenience.
• Life Safety Oversight: Test and examine life safety systems to ensure they are always 100% operational.
• Financial Monitoring: Monitor utility consumption and review purchase requests to ensure expenses align with budget goals.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Director-level experience in property and equipment maintenance, with comprehensive knowledge of hotel systems.
• Experience: Proven experience in supervising property and equipment preventive maintenance and repairs, particularly in a hospitality environment.
• Skills: Ability to communicate effectively in English, self-starting with an even disposition, strong customer service orientation, ability to recognize and act upon safety hazards and security problems, skilled in HVAC, electrical, carpentry, drywalling, painting, plumbing, roofing, and landscaping.
• Bonus: Willingness to “pitch-in” and help co-workers with their job duties as a team player, and responsiveness to complaints about maintenance.
