The Tone:
This is a contract role at Paramount, located in San Francisco, CA. Paramount Streaming, a division within Paramount Global, is home to the company’s direct-to-consumer services, including Pluto TV and Paramount+, and supports CBS News 24/7. This role is crucial for directing visually engaging AR/VR newscasts in a virtual space for CBS News 24/7, helping to unleash the power of content and entertain the planet. It involves co-creating impactful moments for audiences by delivering error-free productions and enhancing storytelling through cutting-edge technology.

The TL;DR
• Role: Contract
• Location: In-person, San Francisco, CA
• Pay: $50–$57 hourly
• Team: Works with the CBS News 24/7 editorial and production teams
• Mission: Owns the execution of error-free, visually dynamic newscasts in a virtual space for CBS News 24/7.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Lead Production: Provide leadership within and outside the control room to fulfill assigned production needs.
• Execute Newscasts: Work with editorial and production teams to execute error-free productions in an ELC automated control room environment.
• Direct Virtual Environments: Verbally call shots as the anchor works the virtual studio, triggering augmented reality objects to enhance storytelling.
• Code and Rehearse: Code assigned newscasts and conduct run-throughs with crew and talent before going to air to ensure crisp production.
• Collaborate on Visuals: Collaborate with producers and jib operators before each show to ensure smart, effective use of virtual studio space.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Director-level professional with current experience directing in active breaking news environments, bringing leadership to live news production and virtual studio operations.
• Experience: Demonstrated experience in live news production is required; previous control room automation use is desired.
• Skills: Strong organizational skills, excellent communication skills, sound technical proficiency, and good conflict resolution and problem-solving abilities.
• Bonus: Knowledge of iNews is preferred, and Sony ELC experience is preferred.
