About the Job: Applied Machine Learning Enterprise Team Internship (Summer 2026)
The Applied Machine Learning Enterprise team at ByteDance combines system engineering and machine learning to develop and operate massively distributed machine learning training and inference systems and services. These systems are designed to serve both big model vendors and users around the world.
As an intern with our engineering team, you’ll have the unique opportunity to build and enrich your expertise in coding, performance analysis, and large system management. You will also get heavily involved in the crucial process of hardware/capacity decision-making. This role involves building large-scale heterogeneous systems integrating with GPU, RDMA, and Storage to ensure their stability and reliability.
We are actively seeking talented individuals for a 12-week internship in 2026, starting in May/June. Internships at ByteDance are designed to provide students with industry exposure, hands-on experience, and a chance to develop fundamental skills while exploring potential career paths. You’ll utilize your knowledge in real-world scenarios, laying a strong foundation for personal and professional growth. A vibrant blend of social events and enriching development workshops will also be available.
Key Responsibilities:
- Building a next-generation big model as a service platform to serve hundreds of LLMs based applications.
- Developing and maintaining the big model as a service platform, including offline training/finetuning, online inference, model management, and resource orchestration, etc.
- Managing a huge number of GPU resources and providing computing power efficiently.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be able to commit to a 12-week full-time work period during Summer 2026.
- Currently pursuing a BS/MS degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- Proficient in deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- Experience with software development in at least one of the following programming languages: C++, Python, Go.
- Good sense of teamwork and communication skills; practical experience in relevant business scenarios is preferred.
- Strong software programming capabilities, exhibiting good code design and coding style.
- Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in NLP and LLM technologies.
- Experience or research in Alignment for Large Language Models.
- Experience in ModelOps, for example, large model management, finetuning workflow management, etc.
- Contribution to top-tier conference papers, including NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, CVPR, ICCV, ACL, KDD, etc., is a big plus.

【For Pay Transparency】Compensation Description (Hourly) – Campus Intern
The hourly rate range for this position in the selected city is $42.75 – $57.
Benefits:
Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Interns have day one access to health insurance, life insurance, wellbeing benefits and more. Interns also receive 10 paid holidays per year and paid sick time (56 hours if hired in the first half of the year, 40 if hired in the second half of the year). Interns who are not working 100% remote may also be eligible for housing allowance. The Company reserves the right to modify or change these benefits programs at any time, with or without notice.
