Accounting Clerk | Alera Group, Inc.

This position is vital to the Employee Benefits team, ensuring the accuracy of financial transactions related to commissions. The role directly contributes to providing exceptional client service and helps clients navigate complex employee benefits solutions by maintaining precise financial records.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Commission Processing: Process and balance daily commission transactions using the AgencyBloc system.
• Financial Allocation: Review and classify revenue transactions, ensuring proper distribution across subsidiaries, general ledger accounts, classes, departments, and locations.
• Discrepancy Resolution: Investigate and resolve commission discrepancies, missing payments, and various transaction errors.
• Data Management: Modify carrier commission statements from Excel files and accurately import them into AgencyBloc.
• Stakeholder Support: Provide responsive customer service to agents, carriers, and colleagues regarding commission-related inquiries.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level with a high school diploma required; preferred candidates are pursuing or have recently completed coursework in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
• Experience: No specific years required; candidates should demonstrate strong organizational skills, exceptional attention to detail, and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, Teams, and SharePoint.
• Skills: Ability to handle confidential and time-sensitive information professionally, strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to manage multiple priorities accurately in a high-volume environment, and a capacity to quickly learn new software systems.
• Bonus: Previous internship, coursework, or experience in accounting, finance, or bookkeeping; experience with financial systems, CRM platforms, or reporting tools; familiarity with AgencyBloc, Tipalti, QuickBooks, Concur, or Adobe Acrobat; professional customer service experience; and an understanding of accounts receivable processes and basic accounting principles.
