Accountant, Staff-Ex | Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots, located in New Orleans, LA. Fair Grounds is America’s second oldest horse racing track, a premiere entertainment venue that presents thoroughbred & exotic animal races, slots, video poker, and simulcasting year-round. It also operates a slot-machine gaming facility and 13 off-track betting parlors throughout southeast Louisiana. This role is crucial for assisting in the preparation of financial reports, which are essential for tracking the organization’s assets, liabilities, profit & loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities, supporting informed decision-making.

What You’ll Actually Do
• General Ledger Management: Prepare journal series for input to the General Ledger and to accounting sub-systems.
• Financial Reporting: Assist with preparing financial statements and management reports to support informed decision-making.
• Data Analysis: Analyze and evaluate accounting and operational data, reconciling accounts, and making necessary adjustments in a timely manner.
• Compliance Support: Assist with daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports in accordance with GAAP, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
• Tax Management: Manage tax compliance tasks, including preparing and filing required forms with federal, state, and local agencies.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
• Experience: At least one year of experience in Accounting or Finance.
• Skills: Journal series preparation, financial statement assistance, account reconciliation, GAAP, regulatory reporting, tax compliance.
