Staff Accountant | Vaco by Highspring

The Tone:
This is a full-time role for Vaco by Highspring’s client, an organization seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Staff Accountant. The client relies on this role to support critical day-to-day accounting operations and financial reporting activities, ensuring accuracy and compliance across all financial processes. This position is essential for diligently managing financial transactions, performing rigorous reconciliations, and contributing to the timely completion of month-end close procedures. The Staff Accountant will play a pivotal part in maintaining the integrity of financial records and providing reliable financial insights for the client’s operations.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Accounting Operations: Accurately and timely process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions, including the review and processing of employee expense reports in compliance with company policies, and investigate and resolve payment-related issues by collaborating with internal stakeholders.
• General Ledger Management: Prepare and post journal entries in accordance with US GAAP and/or IFRS, perform detailed account reconciliations, analyze general ledger activity to ensure accuracy, and reconcile bank accounts while monitoring cash balances.
• Financial Reporting: Assist in the comprehensive preparation of monthly financial reports and management reporting packages, support the creation of financial statements and related disclosures according to applicable accounting standards, and perform preliminary variance analysis to assist with budget-to-actual comparisons.
• Audit & Compliance: Maintain thorough supporting documentation for internal and external audits, assist auditors by providing necessary account analyses, schedules, and requested documentation, and help ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and all regulatory requirements.
• Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements within accounting functions, actively assist with implementing enhanced accounting procedures, and participate in accounting system implementations, enhancements, and other improvement initiatives.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field with a strong understanding of US GAAP and/or IFRS accounting standards.
• Experience: Minimum of 3 years of general accounting experience.
• Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting systems/ERP platforms, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, excellent attention to detail and organizational skills, effective written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to prioritize responsibilities and meet deadlines efficiently.
