The City of Millbrae is a suburban, residential community located in San Mateo County on the northern San Francisco Peninsula, near San Francisco International Airport. Covering 3.25 square miles, it’s primarily situated between the Bayshore (101) and Junipero Serra (280) Freeways. Approximately 70% of its 8,200 dwelling units are single-family homes. Millbrae maintains a “small town” feel despite its expanding economy, driven by its proximity to the airport and related tourism. A significant downtown revitalization project coincided with the arrival of a new BART station. The city government consists of a five-member City Council, and it operates under a general law structure.
