Job Description: 2026 Aprio Spring Tax or Audit Internship

Aprio is seeking high-potential accounting students for its Spring 2026 (January-April) Tax or Audit Internship Program in the Chicago, IL office. This program is designed to provide students with on-the-job training and real-world experiences, allowing them to dive into hands-on accounting projects.

Interns will gain the opportunity to work with small, medium, and large clients, benefiting from a diverse client base and one-on-one contact with clients and partners. The program aims to help interns develop a solid general foundation in accounting. Beyond technical skills, Aprio emphasizes a holistic development approach; each intern class completes a group project involving volunteering and social impact, and the firm organizes networking events and activities to facilitate connections with employees and partners.

Position Responsibilities

• Audit Interns:
• Work with a team of credentialed audit experts.
• Assist businesses and industry leaders in avoiding financial and business risks.
• Contribute to improving financial reporting capabilities and internal controls.
• Help evaluate accounting issues and stay updated with new accounting regulations.
• Assess the quality of information used for strategic business decisions.
• Identify areas for improving operating efficiencies.
• Form relationships with middle to large-sized audit clients. Ideal for those who prefer diverse and energetic teams.

• Tax Interns:
• Assist tax professionals in the delivery of tax services for multiple clients across various industries.
• Interact closely with clients to provide tax planning, consulting, and compliance services.
• Work closely with partners on delivering innovative tax planning strategies.
• Form relationships with middle to large-sized tax clients. Ideal for those who prefer diverse and energetic teams.

Qualifications

• Accounting Major
• 3.0 or higher GPA
• Understanding and applying Excel skills
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Ability to work effectively and personably with clients and co-workers.

Compensation

• $26 – $33 an hour
• Salary varies by internship and office location.
