Job Description

This position is an internship focused on the humanities and digital research within the Gale division of Cengage Group.

What You’ll Do Here:

Conduct Research Project: You will undertake a research project utilizing the Gale Digital Scholar Lab, which is Gale’s digital humanities tool. This project will be submitted to the Gale Research Showcase, where it will undergo a peer review process and will later serve as an exemplary assignment to inspire future users of the tool.
Develop Engaging Content: You will create compelling content for Gale’s blog and social media channels. This content will highlight and showcase the rich and fascinating information available from Gale’s extensive archives.
Coordinate On-Campus Event: You will be responsible for coordinating and facilitating an event on a college campus. The purpose of this event is to educate students and faculty about the valuable resources provided by Gale.
Attend Weekly Learning Sessions: You will participate in weekly virtual “lunch and learn” sessions. These sessions are designed to help you acquire new skills relevant to your internship activities and provide opportunities to network with professionals from different departments within Cengage Group.
Participate in Virtual Check-ins: You will attend virtual check-ins to receive formal feedback on your performance and monitor your progress throughout the internship.

Skills You Will Need Here:

Academic Background: You must currently be majoring in an Arts & Humanities or Social Science subject area.
Personal Qualities: You should possess creativity, leadership qualities, time management skills, and demonstrate a genuine passion for history and the humanities.
Prior Experience (Plus, Not Required): Prior experience using Gale resources is considered a plus, but it is not a mandatory requirement as comprehensive training will be provided to the intern.

The compensation for this position is a base pay range of $15.00 – $16.00 USD. Individual base pay may vary based on factors such as work schedule, qualifications, experience, internal equity, and geographic location.
