Job Description: Market Analyst Internship

This is a full-time temporary internship with an estimated duration of approximately 3-6 months, starting in the summer. The internship is within the Industrial Business Development group, specifically in the Business Development & Proposals Department. The role is located at the Industrial and Water hub in Lenexa, KS.

Position Overview:
The Market Analyst Internship is designed for individuals who excel at finding and efficiently extracting crucial insights, critically analyzing information, and building compelling stories around data. This opportunity will allow the intern to develop, participate in, and learn key roles and functions within business development, with a specific focus on the advanced technologies and data center markets. The position requires a strong technical skill set combined with the ability to understand the bigger picture and translate complex data into tangible action plans.

Key Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks crucial to business development:
Information Management: Acquiring, organizing, analyzing, disseminating, and monitoring information related to markets, clients, competitors, specific projects, technology, and legislative developments for the Business Development team and management.
Market Analysis & Forecasting: Obtaining data to support the forecasting and tracking of market trends, with a particular emphasis on the advanced technologies and data center markets.
Industry Monitoring: Keeping track of industry statistics and following trends in trade literature and other relevant sources.
Strategic Support: Seeking and providing data to help the company determine its strategic positioning across various industries.
Competitor Intelligence: Gathering data on competitors, analyzing their projects, win/loss records, marketing methods, and strategies, and assisting in the development of pursuit White Papers and Capture Plans.
In-depth Research: Performing comprehensive market research across various businesses in the engineering, construction, and general business fields.
Opportunity Identification: Assisting with the identification and updating of opportunities by reviewing and understanding Local, State, and Federal funding mechanisms and Capital Investment Programs.
Reporting & Presentation: Preparing reports that effectively illustrate data graphically and translating complex findings into clear, written text for the Business Development team and management.
System Contribution: Contributing to the design, development, and operation of Kiewit’s Client Relationship Management (CRM) system and other data management libraries.
Contact Management: Organizing and updating key stakeholder contact information.
Senior Management Support: Creating presentations for Senior Management.
Project Assistance: Providing support to the Business Development and Proposal Departments on other research and business development projects as needed.
Coordination: Coordinating with other Kiewit Districts to ensure efficient and effective efforts across the company.

Qualifications:
Candidates should possess a strong foundation in research, analysis, and communication:
Education: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Library and Information Science, Economics, Business, Marketing, Engineering, or possess equivalent industry experience.
Industry Familiarity (Plus): Familiarity with the data center construction and engineering industry is considered a significant advantage.
Research & Analytical Skills: Demonstrates excellent research and analytical skills and familiarity with a wide range of research resources.
Technical Proficiency: Experience with PowerBI or similar programming skills is required.
AI Tool Experience: Experience with AI tools (ChatGPT, Gemini, CoPilot, etc.) is highly valued.
Communication Skills: Possesses strong writing and verbal communication skills, with the ability to condense large amounts of information into fast, communicable insights for senior managers.
Organizational Skills: Ability to prioritize and complete a high volume of work, effectively managing multiple projects and coordinating multiple requests to successful completion.
Interpersonal Skills: Solid interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
Software Proficiency: Excellent computer skills using Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
Data Software Understanding: Basic understanding of data management and analytical software, such as CRM, SharePoint, Tableau, etc.
