Job Description: Staff Accountant Summer Intern

PetSafe Brands seeks a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant Summer Intern to join their finance team. This is a full-time internship offering hands-on experience in various accounting processes. The intern will work closely with the accounting team, contributing to daily tasks and ensuring accurate financial data.

Key Responsibilities:

• Financial Record Keeping: Data entry, ledger maintenance, and ensuring accurate transaction recording.
• Financial Reporting: Assisting in the preparation and review of financial statements (balance sheets, income statements), data analysis, and reporting discrepancies.
• Account Reconciliation: Reconciling accounts (bank accounts, general ledger, etc.).
• Month-End and Year-End Closing: Supporting the preparation of monthly and year-end closings, including journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
• Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyzing financial data to identify trends and discrepancies, providing insights for decision-making and reporting.
• Audit Preparation: Preparing documentation and schedules for internal and external audits.
• General Administrative Tasks: Providing administrative support to the accounting department (filing, organizing documents, etc.).

Qualifications:

• Education: Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Junior, rising senior, or graduate status is preferred.
• Skills: Strong Microsoft Excel skills (vlookups, pivot tables), familiarity with accounting software (QuickBooks, SAP, or similar) is a plus, analytical skills, attention to detail, strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, effective time management and prioritization skills.
• Experience: Previous internship or coursework in accounting or finance is a plus but not required.
