Director, Capital Policy – Salt Lake City | Zions Bank
The Tone:
This is a full-time, in-office role at Zions Bancorporation, located in Salt Lake City, Utah. This Director-level position is crucial for establishing and overseeing the core policies that govern the company’s capital, ensuring all asset management activities comply with evolving regulatory standards while strategically driving capital allocation for improved shareholder value and risk-adjusted returns.

• Mission: Owns the core policies governing the company’s capital, ensuring regulatory compliance and driving capital allocation to improve shareholder value and risk-adjusted returns.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Lead: Lead the strategic oversight, creation, and ongoing management of the company’s capital policies, frameworks, and related initiatives.
• Establish: Establish, update, and maintain comprehensive policy guidelines governing the company’s capital across critical portfolios including investments, loans, deposits, and asset management.
• Ensure: Ensure all capital management activities align with changing financial regulations, including OCC, Federal Reserve, and FDIC expectations.
• Formulate: Formulate and manage capital allocation methodologies across the company’s customer segments and business lines (Consumer, Small Business, Commercial, Wealth Management, Capital Markets).
• Deliver: Deliver quarterly reporting, strategic evaluations, and presentations on capital positions, project progress, and optimization outcomes to Senior Executive Leadership, and prepare capital adequacy and dividend/share repurchase requests for the Board.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related quantitative field. Director-level experience in corporate treasury, capital management, regulatory policy, or financial planning within a regional or large bank.
• Experience: 10+ years of progressive experience, requiring extensive in-depth knowledge of developing, maintaining, and governing capital policies, frameworks, or standards with strategic oversight and operational management.
• Skills: Strong working knowledge of regulatory capital frameworks, Risk-Weighted Assets (RWA) calculations, and US banking regulations; highly proficient in financial forecasting, capital structure optimization, and asset portfolio analytics; extensive knowledge of market trends; leadership experience with direct or matrix management and influence over enterprise stakeholders; exceptional communication skills to translate complex concepts into actionable strategies.
• Bonus: An MBA, CFA, or CPA is highly preferred.
