Customer Service Representative | U-Haul
The Tone:
This is an in-person customer-facing role at U-Haul, a company dedicated to helping individuals and families with their moving and storage needs across North America. As a Customer Service Representative, you will be a vital part of a supportive team, acting as the face of U-Haul’s exceptional service. Your primary focus will be ensuring that customers receive all the assistance they require for their journeys, from providing comprehensive product information to meticulously inspecting and maintaining essential equipment. This position is central to delivering a seamless and positive experience for every U-Haul customer and offers robust on-the-job education to support your growth.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Customer Support: Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, providing comprehensive assistance, answering questions, and thoroughly educating them on U-Haul’s diverse range of products and services both inside and outside the service center.
• Equipment Operations: Undertake hands-on responsibilities including safely moving and hooking up U-Haul trucks and trailers, and meticulously cleaning, inspecting, and preparing equipment on the lot, which involves checking fluid levels.
• Rental Management: Leverage smartphone-based U-Scan technology to efficiently manage all aspects of equipment rentals and inventory, accurately preparing rental invoices and processing the return of equipment.
• Technical Services: Perform practical technical duties such as the safe installation of hitches and trailer wiring, and the precise filling of propane tanks, with all necessary certifications provided by U-Haul upon employment.
• Professional Development: Actively engage in continuous learning opportunities through U-Haul University, enhancing product knowledge, operational skills, and customer service expertise to grow within the company.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: Possess a valid driver’s license and demonstrate the ability to maintain a good driving record.
• Skills: Customer communication and interpersonal skills for assisting diverse individuals, practical ability to operate and maintain equipment, inventory management, basic technical aptitude, and attention to detail.
• Bonus: U-Haul provided certification in propane filling, forklift operation, and the 1-2-3 Punch Certification Program.
