Operations Associate | The Voleon Group
The Tone:
This is a full-time, early-career role at The Voleon Group, located in Berkeley, CA or New York, NY. Voleon is a technology company that applies state-of-the-art AI and machine learning techniques to real-world problems in finance, having led its industry for nearly two decades and grown into a multibillion-dollar asset manager. This Operations Associate Program is designed to develop the firm’s next generation of leaders by providing comprehensive exposure to various business functions and direct engagement with senior leadership. Associates will build a strong understanding of how Voleon operates from day one.

• Team: Member of a rotational program, with subsequent permanent placement on one of Voleon’s business teams.
• Mission: To develop the firm’s next generation of leaders through substantive rotations and direct exposure to firm operations.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Complete three six-month rotations across various firm business functions, including Client Service, HR, Fund Finance, Business Strategy, Legal, Compliance, and R&D teams.
• Undertake high-impact project work within each rotational assignment to contribute to firm priorities.
• Engage directly with senior stakeholders, including regular exposure to the executive team on key firm initiatives.
• Assume increasing responsibilities based on demonstrated ability rather than tenure within the program.
• Contribute to the program itself through leadership opportunities, recruiting efforts, and learning and development programming.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Early-career candidates with an outstanding academic record from a rigorous undergraduate program, including current Bachelor’s and Master’s students and recent graduates, with no finance experience required.
• Experience: Demonstrated ambition and ownership, evidenced by having built, led, or fixed something and the ability to articulate this experience.
• Skills: Critical thinking, comfort turning ambiguity into structure to evaluate and solve problems, strong analytical skills, strong communication skills, and capacity to manage multiple work streams with high attention to detail.
• Bonus: Genuine curiosity about how a quantitative investment firm operates and a preference for a collaborative working environment.
