Nurse Residency Program: Progressive Care Track Fall 2026 | ChristianaCare

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at ChristianaCare, located in Newark and Wilmington, DE. ChristianaCare is a 4x recognized Magnet Status Hospital, committed to supporting all registered nurses with under one year of experience. This role is vital for developing new nurses through a structured and accredited residency program, leading to increased competency, reduced error, reduced self-reported stress, and increased job satisfaction. The program builds a strong foundation for nursing practice in a challenging environment, bridging care for medically complex patients outside of the Intensive Care Unit.

• Mission: To support registered nurses with under one year of experience in building a strong foundation for nursing practice in progressive care.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Complete a structured, accredited residency program designed for new to practice nurses.
• Engage in an integrated curriculum featuring lecture and simulation education.
• Participate in up to 16 weeks of preceptor-led clinical experiences to foster critical thinking and professional development.
• Receive preceptor-led training on intermediate or transitional level step-down units at the Newark or Wilmington campuses.
• Attend continued residency meetings during months 6, 8, 10, and 12 to further develop professional nursing skills.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Graduating from an accredited nursing school.
• Experience: Less than 12 months of nursing experience by the start of the program.
• Skills: BLS required; willing and able to work all shifts (day, evening, overnight), weekends, and holidays based on unit needs.
• Bonus: BSN preferred; eligible for Delaware RN license or RN license from a compact state prior to starting.
