Tax Intern (January 2027) | Ventas, Inc.
The Tone:
This is a year-long, part-time internship at Ventas, Inc., located in Louisville, KY. Ventas is a leading S&P 500 company focused on the longevity economy, managing over 1,400 properties across North America and the UK, including senior housing, outpatient medical buildings, research centers, and healthcare facilities. The Tax team ensures compliance with federal, state, and local tax obligations, promoting accuracy and efficiency in tax-related processes. This role supports the team in maintaining the company’s financial strength and growth through timely reporting and strong internal controls.
The TL;DR

• Type: Part-time (20-25 hours per week)

• Team: Supports Ventas’ federal, state, and local tax compliance and reporting activities.
• Mission: Supports federal, state, and local tax compliance and reporting activities to ensure accuracy and efficiency across tax-related processes and maintain financial strength.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office applications
What You’ll Actually Do
• Tax Return Preparation: Assist with the preparation of accurate and timely federal, state, and local income tax returns.
• Data Management: Compile, analyze, and organize financial data to support tax calculations and reporting.
• Documentation & Filings: Prepare supporting schedules and maintain post-filing documentation, including notices, adjustments, and refunds.
• Partner Support: Support the preparation of K-1 packets for joint venture partners.
• Compliance & Inquiries: Prepare recurring monthly and quarterly sales tax returns, assist with business license filings, and respond to specialty tax notices and inquiries.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Currently enrolled as a sophomore or higher at an accredited four-year college or university, pursuing a degree in Accounting or a related field, with strong academic performance (minimum 3.5 GPA). Must be available to begin the internship in January 2027 and legally authorized to work in the United States without need for employer sponsorship.
• Experience: Completion of at least two accounting courses.
• Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with other Microsoft Office applications; strong analytical, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills; detail-oriented, adaptable self-starter with the ability to meet deadlines.
• Bonus: Coursework in taxation.
