Tax Intern, Core Tax Services – Summer 2027 (Norfolk) | BDO USA

This is a seasonal internship at BDO USA, located in Norfolk, VA. What You’ll Actually Do
• Tax Compliance: Ensure clients and service teams comply with applicable tax authorities and firm policies by preparing returns and extensions.
• Tax Accruals: Assist with components of income tax provisions, correctly applying firm policies and standards regarding FAS 109 and FIN 48.
• Tax Consulting: Help develop and recommend efficient methods to maximize client benefits by monitoring tax law and factual developments.
• Client Support: Assist with responses to notices from the Internal Revenue Service and project year-end client filings.
• Document Preparation: Work with tax software applications to complete simple tax returns for review and organize files to minimize rework.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Accounting or another relevant field; Entry-Level career stage.
• Experience: No specific years of experience are required for this role.
• Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to follow instructions; ability to work effectively in a team setting; positive attitude and willingness to learn; ability to prepare simple tax returns.
• Bonus: Pursuing a Master’s degree in Accounting or another relevant field; actively pursuing school credits to become a CPA; leadership experience.
