Financial Reporting Intern – Summer 2027 | National Life Group

The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Type: Seasonal (10-week paid internship, June 1 – August 6)
• Location: In-person Montpelier, VT
• Pay: $19–$28 hourly
• Team: Financial Reporting team
• Mission: To gain hands-on experience in accounting and financial reporting, contributing to the preparation, validation, analysis, and communication of financial information.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Excel, Workday (ERP systems)

What You’ll Actually Do
• Support: Assist in GAAP and statutory financial reporting activities, including reconciliations, validations, and supporting schedules.
• Create: Support the preparation and review of MD&A, audited financial statements, and other financial reporting materials.
• Participate: Engage in aspects of the monthly and quarterly financial reporting and close processes.
• Collaborate: Partner with Financial Reporting team members and cross-functional groups to understand the overall reporting process.
• Develop: Undertake an individual project involving accounting research, process improvement, or the application of academic concepts to business or financial reporting topics.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level, pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Experience: Strong interest in accounting and financial reporting.
• Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, strong organizational skills, clear and effective written and verbal communication, high level of attention to detail, and ability to exercise sound judgment in validating AI-generated content.
