The Project Accountant role is vital to ensuring accurate financial tracking and smooth project progression by managing critical billing processes, reconciling accounts, and directly supporting the Accounting Manager. • Mission: This person ensures accurate project financial tracking and timely billing through reconciliation, change order management, and proper project close-out.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Billing and Pay Application Management: Complete pay applications and provide essential assistance with general billing processes, including specific support for Locklear/Rogers projects to ensure timely and accurate invoicing.
• Project Financial Reconciliation: Meticulously reconcile job costs and financial records, identifying and resolving discrepancies to maintain precise financial statements for each project.
• Change Order Coordination: Research project details and proactively assist in obtaining all necessary change orders for the sales team, ensuring all modifications are properly documented and accounted for.
• Project Close-Out Procedures: Oversee and execute the proper financial close-out procedures for completed projects, ensuring all accounts are settled, and documentation is finalized.
• Data Integrity and Reporting: Generate and analyze various Comsense reports to maintain the cleanliness and accuracy of Work-In-Progress (WIP) and sales order data, which is crucial for reliable financial reporting.
• Financial Discrepancy Investigation: Investigate and resolve complex financial issues, including researching back charges, tracking missing materials, and addressing additional change order requirements to maintain project profitability.

The Must-Haves
• Background: An Associate’s degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, establishing foundational knowledge for an early-career accounting role.
• Experience: This position requires prior experience in accounting-related functions.
• Skills: Strong mathematical and analytical skills are essential. Proficiency in all Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel, is required. Strong written and verbal communication skills are also critical.
• Bonus: Experience in both construction and accounting-related positions is preferred.
