What You’ll Actually Do
• Direction: Provide strategic direction and oversight to professional and supervisory staff within Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A).
• Financial Integrity: Assure the integrity of Mayo Clinic’s financial information to maintain its competitive standing in the healthcare sector.
• Margin Growth & Risk Mitigation: Proactively identify opportunities and recommend options for increasing financial margins while preserving Mayo standards and minimizing financial and legal risks.
• Strategic Input & Vision Execution: Participate in providing input in strategic planning with the FP&A Leadership team and translate departmental vision into effective responses and results.
• Staff Management & Development: Establish key performance indicators, delegate responsibility, manage multiple functions, and oversee recruitment, development, and performance management of staff.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare, or Finance.
• Experience: 10 years of specified experience, including at least five years of general leadership experience (management of people, projects, and programs) OR two years of international experience. Requires advanced cost accounting expertise, preferably gained within a high-volume laboratory testing environment, and experience analyzing cost of goods sold, test-level profitability, automation impacts, labor productivity, capacity utilization, and operational cost drivers.
• Skills: Demonstrated analytical experience, strong personal computer proficiency, communication, project management, leadership, problem solving, continuous improvement, customer service, and team building skills. Must possess strong knowledge of financial and information technology, and business planning, with a history of developing constructive and cooperative working relationships.
• Bonus: Master’s degree preferred. Must demonstrate skills and characteristics that are advanced to a level deemed developmental toward a future position. Requires strong interpersonal skills to meet and exchange with executive leadership, the ability to gain support and drive consensus with clinicians and administrators, and experience making and implementing decisions in a complex, consensus-oriented environment. Experience with or sensitivity to the uniqueness of the patient care environment is mandatory, along with authorization to work and remain in the United States without necessity for Mayo Clinic sponsorship.
