Entry-Level Staff Accountant Openings | Simon Property Group

The Tone:
This is an entry-level staff accountant role at Simon Property Group, located in Corporate Indianapolis. Simon Property Group is a prominent company that operates within a corporate financial reporting structure. The individual in this position will contribute directly to maintaining and analyzing key accounting areas, ensuring financial accuracy and supporting the overarching financial integrity of the organization. This role is crucial for ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of accounting activities within various Corporate Financial Reporting departments.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Prepare: Monthly close journal entries for assigned accounting areas, in strict accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
• Ensure: That the monthly close process for all assigned areas is performed accurately and completed in a timely manner.
• Maintain: Comprehensive documentation for all assigned areas within the trial balances and the general ledger.
• Analyze: Monthly financial results, transactions, and overall financial statements for reporting purposes.
• Distribute: Essential monthly financial reporting information to designated internal personnel.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-level accountant with a Bachelor’s degree, specifically with a major or concentration in Accounting.
• Experience: No full-time experience is required, making this an ideal entry-level opportunity. However, an accounting internship, gained through either a public accounting firm or a corporate environment, is distinctly preferred for this position.
• Skills: Possess effective analytical capabilities to interpret financial data and solve problems. Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with internal teams. Exhibit exceptional organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities efficiently. Maintain a detail-oriented approach to ensure accuracy in all accounting functions. Be proficient with Microsoft Office products.
• Bonus: Actively working towards a CPA license is considered a plus. Familiarity with AI tools, such as Claude or CoPilot, is also a plus.
