Risk Management Development Program 2027 | Citizens

The Tone:
This is a full-time development program at Citizens Bank, located in Boston, MA; Johnston, RI; and Westwood, MA for its rotational components. Citizens Bank is developing the next generation of leaders for its Corporate Risk Division. The program is a critical initiative for cultivating talented young professionals who aspire to be future leaders within one of the nation’s largest banks. Participants will accelerate foundational financial, credit, risk, and statistical analysis skills, preparing them for robust careers ensuring the safety and soundness of the institution.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Develop: Accelerate foundational financial, credit, risk, and statistical analysis skills through a combination of classes, self-study, on-the-job training, and business line rotations.
• Gain Experience: Complete four 6-month rotations within key risk management functional areas including Credit Risk, Enterprise Risk, Operational Risk, Compliance, and Risk Modeling.
• Collaborate: Work with your RMDP cohort on a Capstone project, investigating a relevant topic to the Bank and presenting findings to the Risk senior leadership team.
• Participate: Engage concurrently in Early Career Development Programming (ECDP) which offers professional development workshops, networking, community service activities, and a Strategic Challenge.
• Understand: Obtain a strong understanding of the Citizens Bank risk management framework and principles through exposure to key business divisions.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant major demonstrating critical thinking skills such as Finance, Economics, Accounting, Decision Sciences, Risk Management, History, or Philosophy.
• Experience: Expected graduation date of May 2027, with permanent work authorization in the United States required, as this position is not eligible for CPT, OPT, or visa sponsorship.
• Skills: Strong analytical and critical thinking, communication, data analysis, detail-oriented, initiative, interpersonal, leadership, learning agility, project management, relationship building, strategic mindset, and time management.
• Bonus: Minimum GPA of 3.00 (3.50 preferred), knowledge of relational databases, exposure to statistical software (i.e., SAS, Stata, R, SPSS, or MATLAB), experience with Generative AI Products and concepts, and basic knowledge of compliance, regulatory frameworks, and U.S./International accounting standards.
