What You’ll Actually Do
• Tax Return Preparation: Prepare tax returns and tax extensions for clients.
• Information Organization: Organize various tax-related information efficiently.
• Tax Correspondence Assistance: Assist with responses to tax notices and support during examinations.
• Software Maintenance: Maintain a current working knowledge of the tax preparation software utilized by the office.
• Administrative Support: Perform various administrative tasks as needed to support the tax team.

The Must-Haves
• Background: This is an Entry-Level internship opportunity. Ideal candidates must currently be a junior or in the academic year immediately prior to their graduation, depending on whether they are enrolled in a 4-year or 5-year academic program. A critical prerequisite is the successful completion of at least one university-level tax class. Furthermore, applicants must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0 and possess current authorization to work legally in the United States.
• Experience: Candidates must demonstrate the flexibility to commit to working a minimum of 25 hours each week throughout the internship period, and also be available to work weekends as needed to meet project deadlines. Active participation in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program is a mandatory qualification for this role.
• Skills: Required skills include strong organizational abilities to manage various tasks and information, excellent interpersonal skills for effective team collaboration and client interaction, and clear communication skills, both written and verbal. Candidates must also be highly detail-oriented and proficient in using the Microsoft Office Suite of applications.
