What You’ll Actually Do
• General Accounting: Prepare routine journal entries, reconciliations, and close schedules, while investigating and resolving discrepancies.
• Investment Support: Provide designated accounting support for investment reconciliations and analysis within investment accounting systems.
• Financial Reporting: Assist with the preparation of Statutory Financial Statements, regulatory schedules, and documentation for audits.
• Internal Controls: Maintain organized documentation, assist with internal control testing, and follow established accounting policies and procedures.
• Process Improvement: Utilize finance systems, analyze financial information, and identify opportunities to enhance accounting processes.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with foundational knowledge of accounting principles, journal entries, general ledger accounting, and account reconciliations.
• Experience: Zero to three years of accounting, auditing, financial operations, or related experience; relevant internship experience may be considered.
• Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy, analytical ability to investigate discrepancies, and strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Bonus: Accounting or audit experience within insurance or financial services, exposure to life insurance or annuity accounting, knowledge of Statutory Accounting Principles or NAIC reporting requirements, experience with Oracle or Clearwater, or progress toward CPA eligibility.
