The Tone:
This is a full-time role at BDO, located in multiple locations across the USA. BDO provides comprehensive assurance services, guiding clients through intricate financial reporting and regulatory environments. This role is critical for overseeing audit engagements from planning through completion, ensuring adherence to professional standards and firm methodology. The Assurance Manager plays a pivotal role in maintaining engagement quality, fostering strong client relationships, and contributing to firm growth through expert advice and business development initiatives, while also developing junior audit staff.

• Team: Supervises Associates and Senior Associates within an audit team.
• Mission: Oversees all stages of audit client engagements to ensure quality, compliance, and profitability, while advising clients on economic and regulatory risks.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Engagement Oversight: Supervise and direct audit client engagements through all planning, fieldwork, and wrap-up stages, delegating tasks and reviewing workpapers.
• Client Advisory: Advise clients on economic and regulatory risks within their industry, resolving complex accounting issues and applying GAAP and GAAS consistently.
• Compliance and Quality: Validate, test, and assess financial reporting control systems, ensuring compliance with SEC, PCAOB, GAAP, and GAAS standards for filings and internal controls.
• Business Development: Engage in marketing, networking, and business development to expand client relationships and ensure engagement profitability, including billings and collections.
• Staff Development: Provide direct supervision, on-the-job training, and performance feedback to Associates and Senior Associates, acting as a career advisor.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics.
• Experience: Five or more years of relevant audit, public accounting, private industry accounting, or consulting/professional services experience, including significant supervisory experience.
• Skills: Active US CPA license or recognized international equivalent; sound knowledge of GAAP and GAAS; familiarity with SEC and PCAOB reporting rules; proven strong verbal and written communication skills; excellent people development and delegation abilities.
• Bonus: Master’s degree in Accountancy; industry expertise in one or more assurance specialty; proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and assurance applications.
