Staff Accountant | Cheng & Weng, P.C.

The Tone:
This is a full-time, on-site role at Cheng & Weng, P.C., located in Phoenix, AZ. The firm supports clients with accurate financial reporting, strategic tax planning, and operational guidance. What You’ll Actually Do
• Day-to-Day Accounting: Perform daily accounting activities for clients, ensuring operations run smoothly and accurately.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare journal entries, maintain general ledgers, and assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Account Reconciliation: Reconcile various accounts and contribute to the preparation of accurate financial statements.
• Tax Support: Assist with tax return workflows for individuals and businesses under the supervision of senior team members.
• Client & Process Support: Respond to client inquiries, gather and analyze financial data, and support process improvements and documentation within the firm.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree; Entry-Level; Foundational knowledge of accounting principles and practices, including general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
• Experience: Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks or similar platforms, along with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel.
• Skills: Ability to analyze financial data and present findings clearly; effective written and verbal communication for collaborating with colleagues and clients; high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills to manage tasks and meet deadlines.
• Bonus: Progress toward CPA licensure or interest in obtaining CPA certification; knowledge of tax concepts and compliance processes for individuals and businesses; prior internship or work experience in public accounting or a corporate accounting environment.
