The Tone:
This is a comprehensive six-month Finance Internship opportunity at the Major League Baseball Players Association, situated in New York City. The MLBPA serves as the exclusive bargaining representative for all Major League Baseball players, committed to advocating for their rights and welfare. This role is specifically designed for already graduated college students holding a degree in finance, accounting, or any related financial field, offering hands-on, sports finance-focused business experience. The program aims to significantly enhance leadership, technical proficiency, and professional communication skills, preparing interns for future careers in finance.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Template Creation: Establish evergreen templates for essential Finance Department operating documents, ensuring consistency and clarity across all internal financial procedures. Additionally, create standardized templates for finance policy documents to guide organizational compliance and best practices.
• Process Identification: Systematically identify existing finance processes, operational tasks, and current policies within the department that are candidates for formal write-ups and detailed documentation.
• Policy Codification: Codify and formally document the identified finance processes and policies, preparing them for official distribution to relevant stakeholders within the organization.
• Dues Management: Provide direct assistance in the processing and accurate reconciliation of Player Union Dues, a critical function for the association’s financial operations.
• Project Support: Assist the finance team with other various projects and accounting tasks as requested by the CFO or Controller, contributing to broader departmental goals.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Must be a recent college graduate, having already obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or any other degree relating to finance.
• Experience: The role seeks individuals ready to intern full-time during normal office hours (9 am to 5 pm), with foundational knowledge in finance or accounting principles.
• Skills: Demonstrated strong proficiency with Microsoft Word is essential. Candidates must possess excellent verbal communication skills for clear interaction and outstanding written communication skills for creating formal documentation. Additionally, knowledge of process flow diagram building, data visualization techniques, and operating systems relevant to creating these processes is required.
