Finance Analyst III | Mayo Clinic

The Tone:
This is a hybrid position at Mayo Clinic, located within 100 miles of its Arizona campuses for on-site expectations based on business needs. Mayo Clinic operates as a multi-site, multi-specialty academic medical center. This role is crucial for assuring the integrity of financial and statistical data, providing leadership, and developing essential management financial information with significant institutional impact. The Finance Analyst III interprets accounting rules and policies to preserve Mayo standards and minimize financial and legal risks.

• Mission: Assures the integrity of financial and statistical data while proactively identifying opportunities to increase financial margins and minimize institutional risks.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Ensure Data Integrity: Assure the integrity of financial and statistical data through the preparation or review of general ledger entries, reports, schedules, reconciliations, or other analysis.
• Provide Leadership & Communication: Provide leadership in a team environment supporting division and departmental activities, actively communicating and presenting information to various audiences.
• Develop Financial Tools: Use reporting tools to develop unique management financial information with significant institutional impact and create programs and tools for financial reporting.
• Interpret & Implement Regulations: Interpret and implement accounting rules, fiscal compliance, policies, and regulations, while identifying opportunities to increase financial margins and minimize risks.
• Mentor and Lead Projects: Provide advanced analytical, financial, accounting, and compliance support to leadership, mentor, coach, and train staff, and lead multi-disciplinary workgroups or projects.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in Accounting or Finance, or another business-related bachelor’s degree. This is the third in a series of four finance analyst roles.
• Experience: Minimum of 6 years applicable experience in accounting or finance with an Accounting or Finance degree, or a minimum of 9 years of applicable accounting or finance experience with other business-related bachelor’s degrees. A Master’s degree in accounting or finance, an MBA, MHA, CPA (active or inactive), CMA, or CIA can substitute for one year of experience.
• Skills: Advanced understanding of accounting and finance practices; advanced knowledge of Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook; advanced investigational skills with attention to detail and accuracy; ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks; solid customer-service skills; advanced knowledge of large accounting and/or grant management systems; demonstrable communication and presentation skills; ability to work independently and lead projects and activities; possess initiative and analytical skills.
• Bonus: Professional designation such as CPA (active or inactive) or CMA is preferred.
