Assistant Manager, TIM Actuarial IFRS17 | FWD Group

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at FWD Group, located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. FWD Group is a pan-Asian life and health insurance business serving approximately 40 million customers across 10 markets, dedicated to delivering innovative, easy-to-understand products and a simpler insurance experience. FWD TIM, located in Kuala Lumpur, is a pivotal shared service hub providing essential business and technology services. This role is crucial for assisting in the management of IFRS17 results generation for business units, which is key for financial reporting, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance across the group.

The TL;DR
• Role: Full Time
• Location: In-person, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
• Team: Reports to Head of TIM IFRS 17 or IFRS17 Country Lead.
• Mission: This role manages the IFRS17 results generation process for corresponding business units, ensuring quality and timely delivery for financial reporting and compliance.
• Tech Stack: Prophet, Excel, Python, Alteryx, Oracle

What You’ll Actually Do
• Results Management: Oversee the IFRS17 results generation process for the assigned business unit, ensuring high quality and on-time delivery in line with production cycles and ad-hoc requests.
• Quality Assurance & Problem Solving: Review generated IFRS17 results, perform comprehensive validations, and identify data issues. Collaborate with BU Actuarial and Finance to resolve data discrepancies and propose effective workaround solutions.
• Stakeholder Coordination: Coordinate incoming requests from Group Actuarial, BUs, and downstream teams, managing communication, updates, and project expectations with stakeholders throughout the production cycle to ensure successful delivery.
• Analysis & Compliance: Apply advanced analytical skills and IFRS17 knowledge to check, test, interpret, and communicate impacts and mitigation actions. Ensure all processes, documentation, and controls comply with the Group Governance policy.
• Process Improvement & Development: Analyze findings and issues to recommend improvements for closing gaps or risks. Contribute to enhancing operation manuals and discuss process or tool improvements with the IFRS 17 Country Lead, and manage end-to-end actuarial projects.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Actuarial Science or another Mathematics/Statistics based major with a good understanding of actuarial valuation processes and IFRS17.
• Experience: 5 to 6 years of insurance experience in actuarial functions, with good Prophet, Excel, and Python experience.
• Skills: Strong analytical skills, good team leadership and management skills, good facilitation, negotiation, problem resolution, communication, and presentation skills.
• Bonus: Nearly fellowship member of an internationally recognised actuarial professional body and flexible to travel.
