Assistant Construction Project Manager Rotational Trainee | Harris

The Tone:
This is a full-time rotational trainee position at Harris, located in various Harris locations across the country, requiring travel and potential relocation. Harris is a national mechanical contractor handling projects of all sizes, from stadiums and manufacturing facilities to hospitals and concert halls. This role is a foundational step in a unique program designed by mechanical contractors to develop future project management leaders within the industry, providing a clear path for career growth.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Gain hands-on experience across multiple business areas that directly impact project success, including engineering, estimating, VDC, field operations, service, and building automation.
• Rotate across different teams and locations, learning how each function contributes to the full project lifecycle of mechanical construction projects.
• Build strong working relationships across diverse teams and functions, developing both technical understanding and business acumen.
• Participate in the planning, coordination, and execution activities of real projects, observing how decisions are made and how projects stay on track.
• Take increasing levels of responsibility, actively engaging in each rotation and seeking out learning opportunities to take ownership of project tasks and deliver results.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Project Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience. Entry-Level career.
• Experience: Willingness to travel and participate in rotational assignments across various locations. A strong interest in building a long-term career in construction project management.
• Skills: Proactive initiative and independent action without constant direction, persistence when facing challenging situations, natural curiosity to understand how things work, effective communication and ability to build strong working relationships, and comfort with change while being willing to relocate or travel.
