Accounting Practitioner | Gilbane Building

The Tone:
This is a full-time, entry-level role for Gilbane Building, located primarily in the office. Next 150 Construction, a fully owned subsidiary of Gilbane, is seeking an Accounting Practitioner to join their team. Gilbane, a large and established Top-10 ENR Contractor with 45 offices, has been shaping communities since 1870. The company is consistently recognized as one of the most reputable construction management firms in the country, committed to delivering projects safely and on-time. They build a diverse range of structures including schools, labs, hospitals, corporate offices, and sports arenas. This role is crucial for supporting the accounting team by performing essential manual and computer-related accounting tasks, contributing to the firm’s operational efficiency and upholding Gilbane’s commitment to excellence.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Invoice Processing: Scan Accounts Payable (AP) invoices and accurately process various payments, invoices, and vouchers, ensuring proper coding and attachments.
• Document and Data Management: Extract and locate specific information from files and records, and compile simple summaries of processed document data.
• Payroll Support: Manage timesheet collection and approval processes, and handle other related administrative items for payroll.
• Foundational Accounting Tasks: Perform basic arithmetic calculations manually or with a calculator, and assist a Senior Accounting Practitioner with daily tasks under close supervision.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level, with 0-1 year of experience. This role supports an accounting team within a construction environment, so a foundational understanding of basic accounting tasks is beneficial.
• Experience: 0-1 year of experience is required. Candidates should demonstrate familiarity with administrative functions and data entry, particularly using common office software.
• Skills: Very good written and verbal communication skills for clear interaction. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word for data handling and document creation. Ability to perform simple arithmetic calculations.
