Accounting Clerk | Hilton

The Tone:
This is a full-time, on-site role at Hilton, located in Portland, OR, with morning shifts from Monday to Friday, and occasional weekend and overtime work as required. • Mission: This person ensures the smooth execution of financial operations, including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll, and General Accounting, for the Hilton Portland Downtown to support the hotel’s overall financial health and guest experience.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Essential Accounting Functions: Execute critical tasks across Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll, and General Accounting, directly supporting the hotel’s daily financial operations and ensuring their smooth running.
• Inquiry and Dispute Resolution: Research and respond comprehensively to financial inquiries, actively partnering with both internal hotel departments and external parties to promptly and effectively resolve any disputes that arise.
• Financial Reporting Participation: Assist actively with the production of monthly accounts, fulfill essential month-end responsibilities, and help maintain robust internal controls over the hotel’s financial data to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Financial Communication Support: Aid in reporting financial results clearly and concisely, and assist in clarifying complex financial matters to foster understanding among both internal team members and external stakeholders.
• Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Build and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with various finance and corporate departments, fostering a collaborative environment to achieve shared financial objectives.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level position suitable for individuals with core domain knowledge in essential accounting functions such as Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll, and General Accounting, demonstrating an understanding of fundamental financial processes.
• Experience: A minimum of six months of prior customer service experience is required, indicating the ability to interact effectively and professionally with others, which is valuable for addressing inquiries and resolving disputes.
• Skills: Key skills include a strong attention to detail for accurate financial data handling, effective communication abilities for addressing inquiries and reporting results, robust problem-solving capabilities to resolve disputes promptly, and a collaborative mindset for building internal relationships.
• Bonus: Previous experience within a hotel finance environment is highly preferred, as it would provide a direct understanding of the unique financial operations and requirements of the hospitality industry.
