Pharmacy Pre-Grad Intern – WM | Walmart

The Tone:
This is an internship at Walmart, located in Maple Grove, MN. Walmart is a large retail organization focused on providing essential products and services to communities. This role is crucial for supporting the pharmacy’s daily operations, ensuring customers receive their medications and services efficiently and safely, and maintaining regulatory compliance within the store environment.

The TL;DR
• Role: Internship

• Pay: $21.50–$34.50 hourly
• Mission: To support pharmacy operations by assisting with prescription processing, managing inventory, providing direct customer service, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and company policies.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Compliance & Confidentiality: Ensure the confidentiality of information, documentation, and assigned records by adhering strictly to Company policies and all applicable local, State, and Federal guidelines.
• Prescription & OTC Processing: Assist customers with processing both prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) orders and purchases, including accurately entering prescription information and filling prescriptions, all in accordance with established laws and company procedures.
• Customer Service & Engagement: Provide comprehensive customer service by proactively acknowledging customers, identifying their needs, assisting with purchasing decisions, locating merchandise, resolving issues and concerns, and promoting available products and services, while simultaneously contributing to the maintenance of a safe shopping environment.
• Transaction & Point-of-Sale Operations: Efficiently operate equipment such as cash registers and related tools to process customer purchases, ensuring the use of appropriate procedures for different payment types and accurately handling all items sold.
• Merchandise Management & Pharmacy Organization: Manage the physical inventory by receiving and stocking merchandise and supplies from distribution centers and suppliers, organizing and maintaining the overall Pharmacy area, handling claims and returns, zoning the area, arranging displays, identifying shrink and damages, and ensuring proper merchandise presentation, including stocking, rotating, and securing goods.

• Background: Entry-Level. Enrolled in an accredited Pharmacy school.
• Experience: No specific years of experience are listed; however, the role requires practical application of knowledge gained through pharmacy school curriculum to assist with prescription processing, inventory management, and direct customer interactions within a pharmacy setting.
• Skills: Adherence to confidentiality protocols, strong customer service abilities, proficiency in cash handling and transaction processing, effective inventory management, and commitment to compliance with all relevant laws and company policies.
• Bonus: Pharmacy-Based Immunization Delivery Certification.
