Risk and Controls Analyst 1 | Mindlance

The Tone:
This is a contract role placed by Mindlance, located in Charlotte, NC (Hybrid). Mindlance supports clients by connecting them with skilled professionals to address critical business needs. This position is vital for maintaining robust control and oversight activities within the client’s Collateral Management operations, ensuring adherence to established procedures and governance standards. The role contributes directly to identifying and mitigating potential control breaches, failures, and anomalies, thereby safeguarding financial processes.

• Mission: To support control and oversight activities by organizing, monitoring, and tracking control execution, managing exceptions, and ensuring timely remediation within Collateral Management.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Coordinate: Organize, monitor, and track control execution to support various collateral control activities.
• Verify: Confirm the completion of required controls and proactively identify any controls that are missed, overdue, or incomplete.
• Investigate: Perform light SQL analysis and review result sets to detect, investigate, and escalate control breaches, failures, and anomalies.
• Manage: Log, categorize, and maintain comprehensive records of control exceptions and issues.
• Remediate: Assign remediation actions to appropriate owners, follow up to ensure timely resolution, and monitor and report on exception aging, closure status, and overall remediation progress.

The Must-Haves
• Background: A detail-oriented and highly organized professional capable of supporting control and oversight activities, with an analytical mindset to track and manage control-related activities and exceptions.
• Experience: Demonstrated capability in tracking and managing control-related activities and exceptions, and effectively partnering with operations, risk, and control teams.
• Skills: Strong organizational and tracking skills with excellent attention to detail; ability to analyze data and identify inconsistencies or control gaps; working knowledge of SQL for basic querying and result-set review; effective communication and stakeholder coordination skills.
• Bonus: Experience with issue management, exception tracking, or operational controls.
