36B Financial Management Technician | DC Army National Guard

The Tone:
This is a part-time role with the DC Army National Guard, located in Washington D.C. The Army National Guard supports national and state security by providing trained and ready Soldiers. This role is critical for ensuring the organization’s financial health, guaranteeing budgets are balanced, and that all financial transactions are processed and recorded accurately. As a Financial Management Technician, you play an integral part in managing funds and providing essential pay support for Soldiers and vendors.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Document Processing: Receive, process, and post financial documents into relevant accounting and budget systems.
• Payment Management: Process treasury checks, pay invoices for commercial vendor services, and manage payments for travel.
• Reporting & Record Keeping: Maintain comprehensive financial files and prepare various financial reports and travel vouchers.
• Auditing & Compliance: Review contracts, invoices, and receive reports to ensure accuracy and proper recording of financial transactions.
• Payroll & Disbursment: Compute payroll, allowances, and prepare payments for Army personnel, including disbursing cash, checks, advance pay, and bonds.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Must have a high school diploma or a GED certificate, or be at least a junior in high school.
• Experience: Military enlistment in the Army National Guard is required. Must be between 17 and 35 years old and capable of using computers and other office machines.
• Skills: Strong numerical aptitude and ability to work with numbers; interest in mathematics, statistics, and accounting; ability to meet legal and moral standards.
