The Tone:
This is an internship at Penta, located remotely on the West Coast of the United States. Penta is a leading corporate affairs advisory firm that helps organizations understand and influence critical issues. The firm combines intelligence, insights, and counsel to help leadership teams navigate complex intersections of business, policy, culture, and reputation. This role supports the Intelligence division, helping clients comprehend stakeholder sentiment, media coverage, and emerging risks.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Monitor: Track news and events across print, digital, television, radio, and social media platforms.
• Alert: Collaborate with a team of analysts to deliver timely and effective news alerts to clients.
• Prepare: Collect and prepare data to support comprehensive media analysis and scheduled report deliveries.
• Research: Assist with long-term research projects that contribute to deeper insights.
• Translate: Create data visualizations and write descriptive text to tell the stories behind the data in reports.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in any discipline, with a preference for communications, journalism, economics, history, or another social science.
• Experience: Experience writing analytical reports and creating engaging presentations using Microsoft Office or Google Suite products. A solid understanding of leveraging Excel for exploratory data analysis and visualization purposes is required.
• Skills: Excellent communication, organizational, and writing skills, combined with meticulous attention to detail and a strong ownership mentality.
• Bonus: A strong interest in media, the 24/7 news cycle, and the intersection of culture, business, and politics, alongside a coachable and growth-oriented mindset.
