Intern, Clinical Documentation (Physician Scribe) | Stormont Vail Health

The Tone:
This is a full-time internship at Stormont Vail Health’s Lincoln Center facilities, an organization providing healthcare services. This role is crucial for students entering their senior year of a bachelor’s program, offering an opportunity to apply academic knowledge in a clinical setting. Interns will contribute to impactful projects and gain exposure to professional healthcare environments, supporting accurate clinical documentation and efficient patient care.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Scribe: Serve as a real-time medical scribe for designated providers during patient encounters, documenting histories, exams, assessments, and plans in the EHR.
• Observe: Attend and observe surgical cases and procedures in compliance with OR protocols, gaining firsthand exposure to operative workflows.
• Prepare: Support pre-visit planning activities and ensure chart readiness for patient encounters.
• Contribute: Assist with basic data collection and reporting, and contribute to departmental projects and quality improvement initiatives.
• Uphold: Ensure all documentation complies with Stormont Vail Health standards, including provider authentication, while maintaining patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program at an accredited college or university in a related field, having completed at least junior-level coursework (typically 90 credit hours or equivalent).
• Experience: Pursuing graduate education in healthcare-related fields, seeking immersive clinical exposure in OBGYN or Surgical specialties.
• Skills: Strong communication, organization, and analytical skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or relevant tools; working knowledge of medical terminology or ability to learn quickly; full-time availability; ability to work in fast-paced clinical environments.
• Bonus: Coursework or experience in Business, Healthcare, Finance, Data Analytics or a related field.
