The Tone:
This is a full-time role with a retail company, located in the Triangle area. The company is seeking a motivated Staff Accountant to join their finance team. This position is crucial for supporting the daily financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger accounting. The Staff Accountant will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial records and contributing to the month-end close process.

• Mission: Assist with full cycle accounting functions to ensure accurate financial reporting and support month-end close activities.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Accounting Functions: Assist with full cycle accounting tasks including accounts receivable, cash, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, accounts payable, accrued expenses, and sales tax processing.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare journal entries, workpapers, and account reconciliations for various accounting matters, from entry-level to complex.
• Bank Reconciliations: Reconcile bank accounts at least monthly, verify deposits, and address inquiries from banks.
• Month-End Close: Assist in the month-end close process, prepare account reconciliations, and contribute to financial reports.
• Audit Support: Gather necessary account information and documents to assist with outside annual audits.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field is required.
• Experience: 2+ years of related experience is required, along with experience using NetSuite.
• Skills: Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, highly detail-oriented with excellent organization skills, and outstanding written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Bonus: Experience with financial consolidations and reporting for multi-divisional entities is a plus.
