Manager Trainee | J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc.

• Mission: Efficiently manage driver operations, ensure freight moves safely and on time, maintain DOT compliance, and deliver excellent customer service.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Driver & Carrier Relationship Management: Learn to build and maintain professional relationships with drivers and outside carriers to ensure productivity and minimize turnover, including seamless new carrier setup.
• Fleet Operations & Profitability Optimization: Become proficient in maximizing fleet efficiency and profitability by analyzing key performance indicators, making improvement recommendations, and presenting customer-specific financial reports.
• Logistics Planning & Execution: Assign loads, plan routes, and monitor freight movement to ensure safe, on-time service and meet customer requirements, including managing freight exceptions and driver ETA adjustments.
• Administrative & Financial Oversight: Perform various administrative duties, including payroll, net-revenue budget management, driver counseling, accident reviews, P&L analysis, and operational or financial reporting.
• Safety & Compliance Enforcement: Maintain the company’s safety culture through daily driver safety messages, regular briefings, and training, enforcing policies to ensure DOT compliance and company safety requirements.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field; OR a High School Diploma/GED with one year of experience in management, transportation/logistics, business administration, account management, or equivalent military experience.
• Experience: Entry-level professional experience in management, transportation/logistics, business administration, or account management; willingness to travel and work across multiple shifts, including nights and/or weekends.
• Skills: Logistics & Freight Management, Regulatory & Safety Compliance, Personnel & Driver Management, Administrative & Financial Reporting, Problem Solving & Issue Resolution.
• Bonus: Experience managing a team, strong conflict resolution and analytical decision-making capabilities, adaptability to changing environments, excellent interpersonal and communication skills with diverse stakeholders.
