The Tone:
This is a full-time, in-person role at Hawaiian Host Group, situated on the company’s extensive macadamia farm in Captain Cook, HI. The “Nut Picker” position is fundamental to the entire production process, serving as the crucial first step in harvesting the raw macadamia nuts that are central to HHG’s renowned offerings. • Mission: This person ensures the initial quality and quantity of macadamia nuts harvested directly from the farm floor, foundational to the company’s premium product line.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Collection: Pick macadamia nuts from the ground and place them into 35-pound bags.
• Quality Assurance: Ensure each bag is filled to the correct level with acceptable kernels, carefully excluding debris such as rocks, leaves, and limbs.
• Productivity Tracking: Account for daily production quantities using assigned numbered tags.
• Safety Adherence: Consistently follow all established company safety standards and procedures.
• General Support: Perform additional work-related duties as required to support harvesting operations.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. This position requires foundational physical capabilities and a commitment to meticulous work, rather than specific prior education or professional experience. Candidates should be ready to contribute actively to the initial stages of macadamia harvesting.
• Experience: Successful completion of a thirty-day probation period is required. While no specific years of prior experience are mandated, candidates must demonstrate diligence and the ability to adapt to farm work requirements during this initial period.
• Skills:
– Physical Stamina: The physical agility and strength to work in a squatted or stooped position for at least eight hours.
– Visual Acuity: Strong eyesight necessary to distinguish macadamia nuts from rocks and other ground debris.
– Manual Dexterity: Adequate finger dexterity required to grasp round nuts that are ¾ to 1 ½ inches in diameter.
– Physical Strength & Mobility: Ability to carry at least 35 pounds for short distances and to walk on rocky hillside ground.
– Communication & Compliance: Good communication skills to follow verbal and written instructions, along with a commitment to adhering to all company safety standards.
