Associate Scientist, FPD | Gilead Sciences
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Gilead Sciences, located in Foster City, CA. This Associate Scientist position is critical within the Small Molecule Formulation and Process Development (FPD) team, contributing essential expertise from early research to commercialization to ensure the successful delivery of life-changing medicines.

• Mission: To provide formulation, process, and manufacturing support and technical expertise for small molecule drug products from research and development through commercialization.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Organize and manage project-related records, ensuring proper filing and retrieval for easy access.
• Design and execute experiments of low to moderate complexity to support cross-functional drug development projects.
• Perform comprehensive characterization of drug substance, drug product intermediates, and final drug products.
• Operate laboratory instrumentation and processing equipment, and provide training to others on their proper use.
• Summarize experimental results, present conclusions in team meetings, and author templated memos and medium complexity reports for documentation and regulatory filings.
The Must-Haves
• Background: A Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of experience or a Master’s degree with 3+ years of experience in a related scientific discipline.
• Experience: Demonstrated experience in supporting small molecule formulation, process, and manufacturing development within a pharmaceutical context.
• Skills: Proficiency in operating laboratory instrumentation and processing equipment, designing and executing experiments, troubleshooting analytical methods and instrument operation, and authoring technical reports.
