Manager Trainee | Tractor Supply Company
The Tone:
This is a Manager Trainee role at Tractor Supply Company, an in-person position where you will learn to operate one of the company’s retail stores. You will gain comprehensive knowledge of store management, from cultivating team members and ensuring a positive environment to driving sales and managing inventory. What You’ll Actually Do
• Team Development: Learn the full scope of recruiting, hiring, developing, evaluating, disciplining, and retaining efficient team members.
• Customer Experience: Observe and practice delivering Legendary Customer Service through GURA (Greet, Uncover, Recommend, Ask) and fostering a welcoming, inclusive store environment.
• Operational Management: Train on scheduling and organizing daily activities, managing merchandise flow, implementing presentation standards, and organizing merchandise resets to company specifications.
• Financial Accountability: Learn the processes of sales and profit management, including achieving top and bottom line targets, budgeting, sales forecasting, and expense control.
• Problem Solving & Leadership: Gain skills in problem-solving and conflict resolution for both team members and customers, while learning to communicate company policies and lead a safe and productive work environment.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Manager Trainee level. Requires a high school diploma. Preferred domains include retail experience and/or farming, ranching, pet/equine, or welding knowledge.
• Experience: Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license. This role requires working a minimum of 52 hours per week, including varied hours, days, nights, weekends, and six-day weeks during peak seasons.
• Skills: Ability to process information and merchandise using system and POS Register, read, write, and count accurately for documentation, operate various store equipment (dolly, hand-truck, forklift, computer, cash register), and move merchandise up to 50 lbs. The role requires standing and walking for long periods, often up to four hours straight without a break, and travel to other store locations and company functions.
• Bonus: A Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural-Science or a Business-related field is preferred. Supervisory experience is also preferred.
