Site Manager II | Fortrex
The Tone:
This is a full-time, in-person management role at Fortrex, based at a processing facility. Fortrex stands as a leader in comprehensive food safety solutions, offering both contract sanitation and specialized chemistry services to the food processing industry across North America. The Site Manager II position is vital for spearheading a dedicated team, ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene are rigorously maintained, and thereby protecting both product quality and consumer safety. This role directly contributes to Fortrex’s core mission of eliminating risks in the food supply so families can eat without fear, by shaping and delivering industry-leading sanitation practices within operations.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Operational Strategy: Plan, develop, and implement comprehensive strategies for daily operational management, ensuring all activities meet established performance, safety, timeliness, and budget requirements.
• Team Leadership & Development: Supervise, direct, and actively develop the sanitation crew, encompassing responsibilities such as interviewing, hiring, training, coaching, motivating, evaluating performance, and addressing team member complaints and grievances.
• Financial Management: Meticulously manage and control site expenditures within approved budgets, and optimize the usage of labor, supplies, and chemicals to consistently meet profit and loss standards.
• Compliance, Auditing & Reporting: Ensure strict compliance with all internal company procedures and policies, complete weekly internal safety audits on staff and equipment, and monitor, measure, and report on operational issues, improvement plans, and achievements.
• Customer & Regulatory Engagement: Serve as the primary liaison with the company’s customers, attending sanitation meetings and communicating facility responsibilities, while also coordinating responses to governmental or customer deficiencies and regulatory agencies as needed.
The Must-Haves
• Background: This is a managerial position requiring at least 2 years of core domain knowledge and experience within food processing sanitation operations. Candidates must be 18 years of age or older.
• Experience: Proven experience in a relevant sanitation role, demonstrating the ability to read, write, add, and subtract. This includes practical experience working in environments that may have extreme temperature fluctuations and require Personal Protective Equipment.
• Skills: Strong leadership abilities for team management and development, proficient financial oversight skills for budget and resource management, effective communication for internal and external liaison, and general working knowledge of computers, including Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Bonus: A High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is preferred, and candidates with a 2-year degree from a Community College or University are also highly valued.
