The Tone:
This is a Financial Analyst Intern position at Baynovation, LLC, located in San Jose, CA. Baynovation is a collaborative and creative group of data scientists and machine learning engineers who build models that directly affect hundreds of thousands of customers. This role is crucial for providing in-depth financial analysis and developing forecasting models, while also contributing to the deployment of machine learning models to drive business insights and optimize costs.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Model Building: Build and deploy machine learning models using both analytical algorithms and deep learning approaches.
• Financial Analysis: Provide in-depth financial analysis of investments to drive insights on trends, return on investment projects, and opportunities to optimize costs leading to better decision making.
• Forecasting: Forecast operating and capital expenditures, perform variance analysis against actuals, and develop forecasting models for various ad-hoc investment projects to build more predictability into actual spend levels.
• Data Management: Own financial data and reports to ensure timely execution of accurate results in support of the Company’s monthly and quarter-end close processes.
• Executive Communication: Build thoughtful and concise executive communication for weekly, monthly, and quarterly management reporting packages, partnering with Engineering and Finance leads to bridge projects to financial goals.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
• Experience: Experience in financial reporting, planning, and analysis activities, including strong familiarity with creating complex financial assessments like financial models, rolling forecasts, and operating/cashflow budgets. Developed and/or implemented new financial reports, dashboards, processes, or tools based on historical data, market trends, and business needs.
• Skills: Strong analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to gather and synthesize operational and financial information, alongside experience with and ability to learn and manage various financial systems.
