2027 Guardian Summer Intern, Corporate Finance & Risk – Agency Accounting | Guardian

The Tone:
This is a paid, 10-week summer internship at Guardian, located in New York, NY. Guardian is a thriving global financial services company committed to providing meaningful learning experiences. Interns will be immersed in the daily environment, gaining invaluable industry and organizational knowledge through job assignments and projects that directly affect the business. This role offers opportunities to interact with senior leaders, network across the company, and gain realistic experiences, potentially leading to consideration for Guardian’s Finance Leadership Development Program.

The TL;DR

• Type: Seasonal (10 weeks)
• Location: In-person New York, NY
• Pay: $20–$35 hourly
• Team: Corporate Finance & Risk – Agency Accounting team within the broader Finance and Risk organization.
• Mission: Support the Finance and Risk organization by assisting with core accounting processes, reporting, and control documentation to ensure accurate financial operations.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Excel, AI powered tools/CoPilot

What You’ll Actually Do
• Accounting Support: Assist with monthly close activities and account reconciliations, ensuring accurate financial records.
• Agency Reporting: Support agency/field-related accounting processes and reporting, contributing to effective financial oversight.
• Process Improvement: Aid in the testing and documentation of accounting controls and business processes to maintain operational integrity.
• Organizational Learning: Learn about Guardian’s purpose, values, operational methods, and its diverse suite of product and service offerings.
• Professional Development: Build a network of colleagues and foster a sense of community with other interns and business units.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Current junior (expected graduation May 2028) enrolled in a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) program in Accounting and/or Finance.
• Experience: Interest in exploring multiple areas of Finance and Risk with a willingness to learn about different functions and career paths. Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship now or in the future; F-1 visa holders with Optional Practical Training (OPT) who require H-1B status, TNs, or current H-1B visa holders will not be considered.
• Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, keen attention to detail and organizational skills, excellent written and verbal communication, and proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, data analysis).
• Bonus: Familiarity with AI powered tools/CoPilot.
