The Tone:
This is an internship at the American Task Force on Lebanon, located in Washington, D.C. The American Task Force on Lebanon is a non-sectarian 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to advancing a robust U.S.-Lebanon relationship through policy and advocacy. This role offers young adults a valuable opportunity to engage directly in U.S. foreign policy and U.S.-Lebanon relations, with core responsibilities spanning data management, content creation, and tracking legislative developments. The organization, led by former U.S. ambassador Edward M. Gabriel, focuses its policy work on governance, economic recovery, security, and human development in Lebanon.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Data Management: Compile and organize data, maintain internal records, and handle database management to ensure smooth office operations.
• Event Coordination: Assist with the logistical planning and execution of ATFL’s Annual Dinner, including drafting letters, vendor communications, and managing attendee information.
• Policy Monitoring: Monitor developments in U.S. foreign policy, Lebanon, and the Middle East, analyzing implications for U.S.-Lebanon relations and summarizing congressional hearings and briefings.
• Content Creation: Draft newsletters, social media posts, press releases, and other communication materials, including managing social media content scheduling and engagement.
• Legislative Tracking: Monitor and summarize relevant Congressional legislation, tracking the progress of bills through the legislative process and coordinating meetings with government officials.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Current undergraduate student, graduate student, or recent graduate with a degree in International Relations/Affairs, Political Science, Government, or Middle Eastern Studies.
• Experience: Ability to commit at least 15 hours per week for a minimum of three months, working on-site in Washington, D.C. at least twice a week, including Wednesdays.
• Skills: Demonstrated familiarity with U.S. foreign policy, Lebanon, and the Middle East, coupled with strong organizational, research, and written communication abilities.
• Bonus: Highly organized and detail-oriented for program and operations roles; proficiency in social media and basic graphic design skills for communications roles; basic knowledge of the legislative and executive branches of government for government affairs roles.
