The Tone:
This is a full-time role at North Central Surgical Center, located in Dallas, TX. United Surgical Partners International, Inc. manages this highly successful, Baylor Scott & White affiliated hospital that performs over 12,000 surgical procedures annually. The hospital operates 14 operating rooms and 30 medical/surgical patient rooms, focusing on a wide range of specialties. This role is crucial for providing clinical leadership and operational oversight to the PreOp/PACU departments, ensuring high-quality patient care and compliance with all regulatory and organizational standards.

The TL;DR
• Role: Full Time
• Location: In-person, Dallas, TX

• Team: Reports to the Clinical Manager and supervises Charge RNs, Staff RNs, Medical Assistants, Hospital Unit Coordinators, and Patient Care Technicians.
• Mission: This person supports departmental functions to achieve the hospital’s mission and goals by ensuring effective operational management, maintaining compliance, and delivering quality patient care in PreOp/PACU.
• Tech Stack: Cerner, Kronos/Shift Wizard, MIDAS

What You’ll Actually Do
• Clinical Leadership: Provide direct supervision, guidance, and evaluation for all PreOp/PACU staff, including participating in employee evaluations and fostering professional development through coaching and identifying educational needs.
• Operational Management: Oversee daily operations within PreOp/PACU, assisting with staffing schedules using Kronos/Shift Wizard, ensuring appropriate shift assignments, and facilitating interdepartmental communication and Cerner system support.
• Patient Care Delivery: Act as a Charge RN or take patient assignments as needed to support census fluctuations, while serving as a key resource for critical patient care aspects such as blood product administration, medication safety, and emergency response.
• Staff Training and Development: Promote patient safety and quality by ensuring 100% compliance with hospital orientation, department-specific training, and ongoing annual updates, acting as a mentor for new hires, and conducting educational sessions.
• Compliance and Risk Mitigation: Ensure strict adherence to regulatory standards including TDSHS, CMS, Joint Commission, ASPAN, and TXBON, manage the completion and follow-up of incident reports, and collaborate with Quality and Risk Management teams on investigations.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Graduate of an accredited professional school of nursing, providing leadership for clinical operations within a hospital setting.
• Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of experience in PreOp/PACU or Critical Care nursing with demonstrated leadership skills.
• Skills: Current Texas RN License; Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification accredited by American Heart Association (AHA); Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications accredited by AHA (to be obtained within 60 days of hire).
• Bonus: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Experience in perioperative services strongly preferred.
