Shift Lead | Five Guys

This role is crucial because Shift Leads are hands-on operational managers, responsible for setting the tone for every shift, supporting team members, and ensuring every guest experiences the high standards of the brand. This position directly impacts the restaurant’s success through leadership by example and commitment to quality.
The TL;DR

What You’ll Actually Do
• Operational Leadership: Lead shifts and manage all restaurant operations, stepping in to run the site when management is not present.
• Hands-On Contribution: Actively perform every restaurant position, including cashier, grill, prep, fries, and dining room duties, leading by example.
• Guest Service Excellence: Consistently deliver fast, accurate service, working to create a great and memorable guest experience every time.
• Team Development & Culture: Coach, support, and motivate crew members to perform at their best, while helping to train new team members and foster a positive culture.
• Shift Management: Oversee and manage daily shift tasks such as breaks, cash handling, and closing reports, ensuring the restaurant maintains cleanliness, safety, and brand standards.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Leadership experience in a restaurant, retail, or hospitality environment.
• Experience: 1–2 years of experience in restaurant, retail, or hospitality; comfort using POS systems.
• Skills: Strong communication, a team-first mindset, basic math proficiency, and the ability to make decisions effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Bonus: Food safety certification, such as ServSafe.
