Shift Lead | Five Guys

The Tone:
This is an in-person leadership role at Five Guys, a restaurant chain known for its quality, teamwork, and consistency. This individual is a pivotal, hands-on leader, crucial for setting the operational standard and ensuring customer satisfaction during their shifts. They are responsible for guiding the team and upholding the brand’s commitment to excellence.

The TL;DR
• Location: In-person
• Team: Reports to management, leads crew members.
• Mission: Ensure smooth shift operations, an excellent guest experience, and consistent adherence to brand standards.
• Tech Stack: POS systems

What You’ll Actually Do
• Operations Leadership: Lead the shift and manage restaurant operations when management is not present on site.
• Team Contribution: Perform all restaurant positions, including cashier, grill, prep, fries, and dining room tasks.
• Service Excellence: Deliver fast, accurate service and consistently create a great experience for every guest.
• Crew Development: Coach, support, motivate, and assist in training new team members to perform at their best.
• Restaurant Oversight: Maintain the restaurant’s cleanliness, safety, and brand standards, while managing shift tasks like breaks, cash handling, and closing reports.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Supervisor-level experience within restaurant, retail, or hospitality operations.
• Experience: 1–2 years of relevant industry experience, with a preference for prior leadership roles.
• Skills: Strong communication, a team-first mindset, ability to lead by example, effective decision-making in a busy environment, basic math, and comfort with POS systems.
• Bonus: Food safety certification (such as ServSafe) is preferred.
