Shift Lead | Five Guys

The Tone:
This is an in-person leadership role at Five Guys, located in a Five Guys restaurant location. Five Guys is dedicated to serving high-quality, fresh, and customizable burgers and fries, striving to provide every customer with an exceptional dining experience built on consistency and quality ingredients. This Shift Lead position is pivotal for ensuring the smooth and efficient running of daily operations, upholding the company’s rigorous brand standards, and fostering a productive and positive team environment that directly impacts both guest satisfaction and overall restaurant success.

The TL;DR
• Role: Part Time
• Location: In-person, a Five Guys restaurant location
• Pay: $14.50/hour +Tips +Bonus
• Team: Leads crew members; reports to management.
• Mission: To lead shifts, ensure operational excellence, and deliver an outstanding guest experience.
• Tech Stack: POS systems, basic math.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Shift Leadership: Lead and oversee daily restaurant shifts, taking full responsibility for managing operations when on-site management is not present.
• Operational Support: Actively engage in all operational roles, including working at the cashier station, on the grill, preparing food, cooking fries, and maintaining the dining room, to ensure seamless service.
• Guest Experience: Consistently deliver fast and accurate service while actively working to create an fantastic and memorable guest experience for every customer.
• Team Development: Provide essential coaching, ongoing support, and motivation to crew members, empowering them to perform at their highest potential, and contribute to the training of new team members to build a strong culture.
• Restaurant Standards: Ensure the restaurant maintains impeccable cleanliness, adheres to all safety protocols, and meets brand standards, effectively managing critical shift tasks such as employee breaks, cash handling procedures, and completing closing reports.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Experience in restaurant, retail, or hospitality settings. Leadership experience is preferred.
• Experience: 1–2 years of relevant work experience.
• Skills: Strong communication, ability to make sound decisions in a busy environment, basic math proficiency, and comfort using POS systems.
• Bonus: Food safety certification (such as ServSafe) is preferred.
